Hope for WASPI, New Committee to Form Soon

A new, Work and Pensions Committee, is about to form under the Labour Government which is supporting the WASPI. The WASPI women have been campaigning for so long but no final decision has been made till now.

There is hope now that the new committee which is about to be formed under the new Labour Government may come in support of the WASPI women and the compensation can be provided to them.

The WASPI women are campaigning for compensation as they are affected by the new State Pension Change Act in the UK.

As per the report of the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman, The DWP has failed to inform the WASPI women about the State Pension Change Act. This suggests that women born in the 1950s should get compensation.

The new government formed in the UK may now plan to decide how much the compensation should be, how to structure it, and who should actually be compensated.

If you are a woman born in the 1950s, you should calculate your compensation amount to know exactly how much you should be compensated.

It basically depends on the year you were born, the number of weeks lost due to the State Pension Change Act, and your pension amount.

WASPI chair, Angela Madden, said, “Debbie Abrahams has put herself forward to be chair of the Work and Pensions Committee. She’s a good supporter of WASPI. But those committees might not be in place until November. First of all, you get the chairs elected, then all the members have to be elected. It’s take a bit of time. That will happen after conference season. So it’s the second week in October by the time they get around to that. By the end of October, the committee should be in place. Then in November, they might actually start working.”
